Adrian Grant

Adrian Grant, clinical triallist and one of the founders of the influential National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit in Oxford and of the Cochrane Collaboration worldwide, died in August 2015. Obstetricians will remember him for many key pregnancy trials, including the Dublin trial of electronic fetal monitoring, UK trial of fetal movement counting, the MRC/RCOG cerclage trial, and a number of trials of techniques of perineal repair. In later life he directed the Heath Services Research Unit in Aberdeen where he led trials of gynaecological treatments.
