Routine labour induction before term

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has funded a randomised trial to compare inducing all pregnant women at 39 weeks, or awaiting spontaneous labour. It will test the hypothesis that early induction reduces a composite outcome of perinatal death and severe morbidity. Recruitment of the planned 6,000 participants will start in June 2014.
